Ricciardo: ‘Screen was fine’
Daniel Ricciardo admitted today that the aeroscreen head protection system he used in free practice in Russia gave him maximum visibility.
F1’s 2017 rules are set to be unveiled in the next few weeks and head protection is a key subject.
Kimi Raikkonen demonstrated a halo device in pre-season, and Ricciardo ran with a new screen today and said it is something he can get used to.
"Sure it's different but I think the crux of it is still pretty good."
"The vision and all of that was fine, to be honest," the Red Bull driver said. "Where the structure is and where it's built, it's in line with the mirrors, so you're not really hindered at all, any more than now. "Sure it's just a bit weird having that structure, so that's something you've probably got to get used to. "But the pure visibility and seeing what was around you, what you see seemed pretty much unaltered, so that's positive.
