Nico Rosberg has cheekily insisted that his win in the Austrian Grand Prix was “easy”.

The Mercedes driver beat his team-mate, Lewis Hamilton, in the race after he grabbed the lead at the start, and he held him off to claim his third win of the season.

He said: "To get a day where it's one of the easier wins and not having pressure from Lewis behind was great to see. I had the pace advantage over him so all in all it was an important day.

"I'm happy now with how it has gone. It's coming in my direction so that's good. I just had a great car and everything worked out."

This marks the first time that Rosberg has overtaken Hamilton and soundly beaten him on track, and he claims that his race pace problems from 2014 have been banished.

“"I had a good start and then good pace in the race - that is what I'm most happy about.

"I think I have found what I needed to find last year in terms of in the races and that's what is really working out for me this year."
