Nico Rosberg has described Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto's latest comments about Sebastian Vettel as "brutal".

Earlier at Hockenheim, Binotto was asked about Vettel's career slump at Ferrari. "How can we help him?" the Italian told RTL. "By being open and honest with him. "By making it clear -- we expect more from him.

By telling him he was not as good as he could be. "At the moment I would even say that Vettel is maybe overdriving the car, because he wants to compensate for the lack of performance," Binotto added.

Nico Rosberg, the 2016 world champion, expressed surprise at Binotto's comments. "I see the situation simply," he said. "The handling of the Ferrari, particularly with the rear of the car, suits Leclerc better than Vettel. "Ferrari is currently unable to give him a car in which he feels comfortable," the former Mercedes driver said.

"The six drivers in the top three teams are all under extreme pressure. I know because I've been in the same situation. "But I have to wonder a little bit about Ferrari and how frankly they express themselves.

Even Mattia Binotto is criticising Vettel's driving style in public and saying he overdrives the car. "That's pretty brutal," Rosberg added.

I have never been a Ferrari or Vettel fan but I would go into bat for Seb anyday over Mattia Binotto's Comments against Vettel .
If you can't give a Race car Driver like Seb a car that works don't blame him for mechanical or any part failure

Mattia Binotto needs to stop blaming the drriver and look at the cars failures to win Races or even Qualify

Well said Steve. Seb is having a difficult time lately but the team is hardly blameless! Just look at yesterdays qualifying? The truth is that these cars aren't straightforward to drive and will suit one driver more than another. Valterri often has the better of Hamilton at the start of of Grand Prix weekend as he seems to find a rhythm more quickly. Binotto needs to be more balanced in these statements because Leclerc has hardly been blameless this season and the worse offender of the lot is the team itself.

Hundred percent right. And look at the Pitstops, despite the technical issues: the mechanics are working in slow motion and fall almost asleep compared to Red Bull with 2,4second stops

I Seriously think that something happened at Ferrari with the sacking of Maurizio Arrivabene and all this crap about Vettel not performing to there expectations.
There must be some bad Vibes Around the Ferrari Garage
It takes a Team of Mechanics and Engineers to put a winning car under Vettells Arse.
Ferrari stop blaming the Driver for your mistakes

I am neither a Ferrari or Seb Fan

But I am Wright behind Seb as a Fan of F1 I want to see the Drivers treated like a professionals they are instead of saying they are not performing to expectations
    Wake up Ferrari

Sen is not the problem. It is a car that does not handle as well as Mercedes or Red Bull. Also the slow pit stops, bringing the card into the pits at the wrong times and bad tire manegement.

I could not agree more with this comment. The Ferrari team, including the sleeping mechanics F$#% up everything. Please come back Arrivabene!!!!!

I would like to comment that Ferrari pay Vettel a very good salary to drive their currently very competitive car and it is not Vettel that pays Ferrari to provide him with a car suitable to his driving style. There are Many F1 drivers who have never had a competitive car who would have equalled or exceeded his successes. They neither had the opportunity nor the financial rewards. How many drivers in the B teams would be delighted to be in his position and be subject to such negative remarks when they fail?
you are undoubtedly aware of the importance of a competitive car.
The truth is that Vettel career as a world champion was over when Ricciardo joined Red Bull.
Ferrari made the wrong choices both in choosing Vettel and Raikkonen. With a better choices and without choosing "X" world champions Ferrari could have two additional championships. I wonder why Vettel left Red Bull and liked Raikkonen so much?

Wow! This is a very long-winded but completely useless comment. And it proofs that the writer has no idea what the problems at Ferrari are. Just look at he last race in Mexico. Not even the best driver on this planet can compensate for the back-Teams mistakes,

Thank you for your abrasive but unrelated and unqualified observation. We are all well aware of the shortcomings of Ferrari's strategical shortfalls, both under Binotto and Arrivabene. Nevertheless the strategy is agreed with the driver prior the race, my argument related to Sebastian Vettel's ability and phycological integrity. I am now retired from Formula cars and sport cars building and design, therefore I can dedicate time to “long-winded, useless” comments. The beginner Leclerc has more points and pole positions so far.
