Nico Rosberg insists his victory in the Singapore Grand Prix feels extra special considering Mercedes struggled in the same race 12 months ago.

The championship leader held off  a late charge from Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo to win - just a year after Mercedes finished well off the pace behind Ferrari.

Rosberg says the team have worked hard on rectifying those problems and could not hide his delight after the race.

"With this team it's awesome to be able to have a shot at winning every race wherever we go,” he said.

"Especially this weekend, which has been very impressive because we got destroyed here last year by Red Bull and Ferrari.

"We understood why, and it really wasn't easy to understand, but we turned it around and it made a difference this year.

"We beat them on their best track. It was really fulfilling in a way for everybody."
