Nico Rosberg has insisted that he was confident a victory was just around the corner before his success in the Spanish Grand Prix.
Rosberg’s Mercedes team-mate, Lewis Hamilton, has dominated the season so far and won three of the opening four races.
The German was under increasing pressure to perform after a shaky start but he stormed back to form with a fine win in Barcelona.
He told AUTOSPORT: "Of course, it's a positive boost. It's better than the opposite, for sure.
"It's difficult when Lewis wins in a consecutive manner like he did, but I'm fully confident in my abilities and my approach, so I did believe the win was going to come very soon.
"In Spain it did. Everything came together, and it hadn't come together until now, so the weekend was awesome."
Rosberg will be confident of securing his second straight win in Monaco next weekend, and close the gap between him and Hamilton even more.
The 29-year-old excels on the streets of Monte-Carlo, and the launch of his championship challenge will give him the momentum.
