Nico Rosberg has not received any assurances that he will be offered a new Mercedes contract by boss Toto Wolff.
The German finished last season in style, as he won the final three races of the year, but his relationship with champion Lewis Hamilton is far from friendly.
Hamilton signed a new Mercedes contract last season, but Wolff is in no rush to offer Rosberg a deal.
He told AUTOSPORT: "The line-up is a great line-up.
"Both of them are a major part of the team and responsible for getting the team to where we are today.
"But it's early days to discuss that [Rosberg's contract]. I want to see how the season pans out.
"There are areas we want to develop altogether as a team, and let's see how that goes."
Wolff warned the duo that their relationship needs to continue or one of them will be released, which might cause concern for the German.
