Nico Rosberg will start on pole for today's US Grand Prix after the final session was cancelled due to rain.

The German was fastest in Q2 ahead of Lewis Hamilton- who could win his third world championship this weekend.

The race, which is due to take place at 7pm GMT, is in doubt due to Hurricane Patricia, which has battered the Texas track this weekend.

Yesterday's qualifying sessions was put back to today and the race is under threat.

If it goes ahead them Rosberg will line up next to Hamilton, with Red Bull duo Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat on the second row.

Sebastian Vettel was fifth fastest, but he will take a 10-place grid penalty for an engine change, while Sergio Pérez and Nico Hulkenberg were sixth and seventh.

Felipe Massa was the sole Williams to make it to the top 10, but McLaren struggled again with Fernando Alonso 11th and Jenson Button 14th.

Button was heard after the session saying that it was too dangerous to send cars out for Q3.

Both he and Hulkenberg spun off the rack, while Carlos Sainz crashed into the tyre barriers.
