Nico Rosberg claimed victory in the Belgium Grand Prix for his 20th career win, but his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton stole the show by finishing third after starting last on the grid.

Hamilton benefited from the chaos ahead, as multiple cars crashed and retired aiding his way through the pack.

Daniel Ricciardo finished second for Red Bull, but his team-mate Max Verstappen was involved in a first-lap incident with Ferrari pair Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel.

A heavy crash for Kevin Magnussen brought out a red flag, as the Renault damaged the barriers at Eau Rouge, which helped Hamilton on his way through the field.

The defending champion was fifth on lap 10 after several first-lap incidents, which saw Verstappen and Raikkonen collide at the first corner - subsequently hitting Vettel and spinning him around.

Jenson Button was also hit, with the damage his car suffered forcing him out of the race.

Rosberg was untouched in the lead, as he dominated the race from start to finish.

Hamilton threatened Ricciardo but the extra pace of the Red Bull eventually saw him over the line, with the Englishman settling for third ahead of Nico Hulkenberg's Force India.

Vettel battled back to finish sixth ahead of Fernando Alonso, while Raikkonen salvaged ninth.
