Sauber confirms Giovinazzi for 2019
Alfa Romeo and the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team is delighted to announce that Antonio Giovinazzi will race alongside 2007 Formula One World Champion Kimi Räikkönen, completing the team’s driver line-up for the 2019 season.
Following its tradition of discovering and nurturing young talents, the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team has appointed the Italian driver, who has worked with the team for the past two years, to race in place of Charles Leclerc.
The decision to elect Antonio Giovinazzi is particularly significant in the scope of the project that this season saw the return of Alfa Romeo to the pinnacle of motorsports after a hiatus of more than 30 years. The coming together of Alfa Romeo and the Italian driver was natural, also considering the strong bond that has tied Giovinazzi to the brand from an early age, and is a source of national pride considering that several years have passed since an Italian driver has competed in Formula One.
Antonio Giovinazzi made his Formula One debut with Sauber at the 2017 Australian Grand Prix, and has since then competed with the Swiss team on one more occasion (2017 Chinese Grand Prix). Furthermore, he has completed several tests and FP1 sessions for the team. He has proven his talent, and shares the goal of achieving ambitious results together with the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team.

And its time for the OLD man Raikonen to do something else maybe spend more time in his Sauna geting ......... He have driven that Ferrari for a loooooooooooooooong time but when was his last winn ??? Is there anyone that rember when it was ??? F1 has become a boring sport with all this politics and big car companys ruling. Myself I have been wisiting around 45 races from 1973 to 2017 and looking at all races since 1966 on TV so I know what I writing.........
They will be dead last probably so good luck with the new overalls.
And what kind of people really buy a Alfa Romeo ? They are the optimal shit cars.....
One neighbor had a Alfa in 2011 that he parked a rainy day outside his house and in the morning it was allmost complety gone and it was not stolen there was just 4 wheels laying and stinking rust spot on the pawe.........
I've had four Alfas - a 2.0 Giulietta (1988 - 1994), a 156 2.0 (1998 - 2018), a 159 spider v6 3.2 (2007 to 2015) and a 1.9 jtd GT (2009 to 2018). As you can see, I still have the old 156, now with 380k on the clock, and the JTD, with 210k on the clock.
Not one gave me a moment of trouble, and all of them drive like real car. Can't say the same for the 3 series BMW cabriolet I had from 1989 to 1990. It was always in the shop, and I crashed it twice due to poor road grip in the wet.
Clearly an Alfa driver once showed you how to drive.
