Schumacher to drive 2023 Mercedes at tyres test next week
May 31 - Mick Schumacher is set to brush off the dust and return to the wheel of a Formula 1 car next week.
Official Formula 1 supplier Pirelli has announced that, immediately after the Spanish GP at the same Barcelona circuit, both Mercedes and Ferrari will conduct two days of testing for the 2024 tyres.
And Bild newspaper reports that ousted Haas driver Schumacher, now Mercedes' full-time reserve driver, will be at the wheel of the current 2023 car all day on Wednesday.
"Exactly how many kilometres he drives is not yet clear and depends on the test details," the major German publication said. "But it will probably be around 500km."
George Russell will drive the same car a day earlier on Tuesday.

Are they only allowed to nominate two drivers for the test, the journos will love this story, printing things which may or maynot be true, its only took 6 months to get Mick the car so well done ..!
Spot on, Shrop'. If MB is serious about MSC's future let the knight sleep in and give Mick a P1 run at some race weekends. He is not getting the MB ride anytime soon but that MIGHT give him a chance at Williams. You and I disagree, but I still think MSC has F1 level talent.
George will go first so the car remains in one piece for the next day's testing!
Lol
Both of you guys are just plain mean. LOL
To be honest mick shu has got a huge mountain to climb in trying to follow his father's career, he's had a chance at f1 & I think there's to much pressure on him to be able to relax & be himself, maybe a good physio manager could help him through.
If he wants, I know of a very experienced physio whose not doing much at the moment, she told me she wants someone normal to work for, for a change.
Ha, ha, now shropp, how did I know you would say that. 😎
