Jun.29 - Mick Schumacher's mother is making a rare visit to the Austrian GP this weekend.

As outlined by the local newspaper Kleine Zeitung, Corinna Schumacher - wife of stricken F1 legend Michael Schumacher - "normally isolates herself from the public".

But Mrs Schumacher walked into the Red Bull Ring on both Thursday and Friday with her son Mick, 25, who is in the running to return to the F1 grid next year as Pierre Gasly's teammate at Alpine.

Corinna is not known to be deeply involved in the hands-on management of Mick's career, but she does know Alpine's new executive advisor Flavio Briatore well from his days as team boss at Enstone-based Benetton - where Michael won the first two of his seven world championships in the mid 90s.

"Driver market interests for her son are one of the possible reasons for her presence," agreed the authoritative Italian sports daily, La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Mick will test a two-year-old Alpine at Paul Ricard next week, in what is being billed by the media as a 'shootout' with Jack Doohan for the 2025 race seat alongside Gasly.

I wonder if Mick's family name was Smith, Jones, Johnson or Braun if he would attract the same attention! I don't believe he has the capability of following in his famous father's footsteps. He shares only the family name, not the same skills.
