Spain and Austria will host the only in-season Formula 1 tests in 2015, it has been announced.

The new season will see a reduction in in-season testing, which saw four tests last season in Bahrain, Spain, Great Britain and Abu Dhabi.

However, the 11 teams decided that the effects of the tests were not worth the expenditure, so a decision to half the number of permitted tests was agreed.

The FIA’s 2015 Sporting Regulations, published yesterday, reveal that both tests will be two days long and that on half of the overall four days, the teams must use drivers who have less than two race starts.

The first in-season test will take place in Barcelona after the Spanish Grand Prix, which kicks off the European season, on May 10. The second test will come after the Austrian Grand Prix on June 21 at the Red Bull Ring.

Winter testing has also seen a cut this year, with Jerez hosting the first of just three tests, as opposed to the usual four. This will cut down even further to two next year.
