Rumours say that the 2020 Spanish F1 Grand Prix has been rescued.

Ziggo Sport journalist Olav Mol tolid the world during a broadcast from the Hungaroring yesterday evening that the Catalunya government seems to have written out a cheque to make the 2020 Spanish F1 GP happen.

This will mean that the F1 2020 Calendar will have 22 races. After 2018 the paddock never wants to deal with a triple header again, so the calendar will have to get 3 back-to-back races with a 22 grand prix' race schedule.

The rumour is that the first back-to-back races will already be the first and second grand prix in Australia and Bahrain. The second back-to-back race will probably be the Canadian and Azerbaijan GP. The third B2B race will then be the Spanish and Dutch Grand Prix in May 2020.

But this all depends on the progress at Vietnam, where a lot has to be build to be able to host the Vietnamese Grand Prix. This race was in concept planned at the end of April. So if this race will be delayed for one year the back 2 back with Spain and the Netherlands will not be necessary and the calendar will have 21 races.

The final 2020 schedule will probably presented during the Italian GP in September.
