Lewis Hamilton remains in pole position to win the 2019 world championship.

That is the view of Max Verstappen, even if some in Formula 1 are declaring that the championship is back alive after the Dutchman won two of the last four races. But the Red Bull-Honda driver doesn't see it exactly that way.

"I think you can see how much margin they have when they really need to push," said Verstappen, referring to how Hamilton closed an almost 20 second gap in as many laps in Hungary. "Once Lewis really had to go for it you can see that that car is still the dominant car, it's as simple as that," he added.

Verstappen said it is simply not "necessary" for Hamilton to push his Mercedes as hard as it can go in many other races. "But in Hungary he had to go flat out and then you see what they are capable of as a team," he added.

Verstappen will not recognise Lewis's talent as a driver. He always goes on about the speed of the Merc being the main factor.

If the car speed is the main factor in Lewis's success -then Bottas wouldn't be behind in alot of races. Also RB would have definitely got Max to pit after Lewis pitted for the 2nd time in Hungray and Max would have been just behind Lewis when leaving the pit exit . This means Max could have fought for 1st place with Lewis-fair and square!! BUT they didn't have confidence in Max's driving skill to catch up and overtake Lewis- poor Mad Max!

Max really needs to stop disrespecting Lewis and give credit where credit is due- just like all the real greats do- for example Vettel, Alonso,Kimi etc who do not bulls**t but are straight up!

This shows Max needs to continue his journey from boy to man! He isn't there yet. RB should get rid of Gasly and partner Max with Alonso and then we will be able to judge the true quality of Max's driving!!!

Max is a talent.....no doubt. I just wish he would give respect where it's due. Max believes Alonso was the class of the field before he turned up and that anyone of the top four or five current drivers would win in Hamiltons car.

However, what he doesn't mention is that Hamilton beat Alonso when the Spaniard was at the top of his powers as a two time champion when Lewis was a first year Rookie. In fact Alonso is one of the first to recognise the ability of Hamilton. Then on to the car issue. No one would win in a Williams this year that's for sure so undoubtedly you need a good car and Merc have generally had the best package over the last six years or so but that wasn't necessarily the case in 2017 and 2018. Even this year the RBR has been the strongest car a a few tracks and the Ferrari at two or three but squandered their advantage, so even the strongest car doesn't always have the best car at every track.

Then for me is the big problem with Max's comments is that is that he and three or four other drivers would win the WDC in the Merc. What he fails to recognise that even if that were true then first you've got to beat your team mate and when he had a good one he only beat him last year and it could be argued some of that was because RBR put all their eggs in his basket. Even in qualifying RBR have had the best car at certain tracks over the years and it's taken for him to have Gasly as a team mate before he secured his first pole position.

      Hello Pam,

So gratifying to see that you can't visit the board without mentioning me. It feels very nice to be missed and desired. You ought to try it sometimes.

As for Max, you are quite behind the times. Max is no longer on my short list of favourite five. I announced it a while back.

If it's going to make you feel any better I dropped him for none of the reasons that you might suspect.

By the way, where have you been all this time? Was your broom in the shop for annual overhaul and maintenance?

          Oh, hello to you, too.

Are you Pam's barrister or something? Or are you what I suggested earlier you might be - Pam in disguise.

Now that you have walked, uninvited, into discussion, check the posts and prove yourself wrong. It'll do you a lot of good.

So now I need an invite from you to post, so much for free speech. 'Barrister' it was only a little while ago you accused me of being Pam, are YOU going to apologise for that?

Oh, I understand, now Max is not polite enough!!! Max is the biggest shot in the arm of Formula 1 in a long time. Ya ya, tell me otherwise...

I'm a huge fan of Formula 1 and don't really have a favourite driver. But I think Verstappen is a very entertaining driver, who isn't even on the top of his game. Just like Leclerc he is only 21. From a sporting point of view you can say you are on you peak at age 23, so we will see some great thing in the upcoming seasons.

I'm very glad Helmut Marko has taken the risk to put him in an F1 car at the age of 17 already. If he wouldn't have we would have missed out on a lot of overtaking manoeuvres, rain-drives, collisions made by Verstappen.

His behaviour outside the car is not my business. All drivers and people show behaviour that I like or dislike. But that's my problem and not theirs.

Yep, it didn't take Simon long to make an obnoxious and sexist comment as usually! When will he grow up-and realise his comments are NOT appreciated by many who use this site including me!

Pam is entitled to her opinion Simon. And it's an opinion that is not without some support but please try and keep your comments about the F1. Not slagging people off would help but also try to cut back on the self serving arrogance of your replies. I've tried to keep out of your way but you don't make it easy. I suppose being end of term leads to frustration and you've got to let the anger out somewhere but please not here.

      BlackDog,

      Practice what you preach.
This article has a theme, a subject. And I am not it.
I did not post to it.
Pam has posted and brought me into discussion.
She is trying to copy you - turn posters into a subject of the thread. But, you are a tough act to follow.
I have already accused you of that, and you now provide the proof of it.
Unless you are a moderator or have powers to limit my posting here I do not intend to ask you for a permission.

So, your little group is growing nicely: yourself, Pam, ok then....I am flattered. Never thought I was able to smoke out so many windbags. (Incidentally, there appeared, briefly, another poster with a name of Black Matt, or some such name, writing very much in your style, ie. against me. It wouldn't have been you, would it?)

Smoking too much Whacky-Backy makes you paranoid apparently! And liking your quote ten times in a childish attempt to falsify support where you have little, perhaps more than anything shows your character for what it is.
For the record I'm BlackDog, no other. I don't need any other to challenge your generalised pomposity and rudeness. You bring out the worse in people and that's sad. I expect that you are a very lonely person, sat for long periods of time in front of your computer raving on forums and newspaper chat groups because those who know you avoid you and because of this time is your enemy!

    BlackDog and ok then,

I have already stated; I am NOT the subject of this thread.
Your attempts to turn me into one are earnest but futile.
    I suggest you look elsewhere.

    Have a nice day.

Simon, you should realise that we all have much better things to do than answer your rude , childish responses and comments posted on this forum.

You are the worse type of troll who thinks you are always right! I wonder when you will realise that multiple reviewers are not wrong about your bigoted views. However, the sexist, racist and/or non -pc comments made by you will be addressed until you stop!!

Were you able to refrain from posting your claim to having "much better things to do" would've sounded a lot more genuine.

This way it was all for naught.
Worse than waste - it exposed you.

why not stick to F1 racing and drivers and put your personal feud on Facebook?!
Lewis is is big talent, but so is Charles and Max, which is good for the show. What I fail to see, is where Max disrespects Lewis as a driver. Mercedes clearly has still a technical advantage, which I hope will be closed soon, for the good of the show.

As far as I am concerned, you are preaching to the converted.
However, if the posters insist on being rude to me, and start personal arguments because of the views I hold about the drivers and the current grid I am not going to roll over and play dead.

If you read my posts you'll see that I have consistently asked that posters stick to the topics and stop arguing ad hominem.
