Jun.6 - World champion and current world championship leader Max Verstappen has warned that he may "stop" his Formula 1 career after the end of his current contract.

The 24-year-old Dutchman has signed an incredible $50-plus million per year deal with Red Bull through 2027 - and rules out sticking around beyond that in a role such as a commentator.

"You will not see me again as an analyst or in a team role," he told Formule 1, a Dutch publication.

"I don't have the motivation for that. When I don't drive anymore, I want to do other fun things."

However, some of that fun could be at the wheel of a racing car, as Verstappen cited the example of his father Jos who is back racing at a semi-professional level.

"It's nice to still be competitive at a good age," Max said.

"The problem is that when I participate in anything, I really want to win."

Verstappen, though, isn't sure how old he will be when his Formula 1 career ends - or whether he will even sign another contract at all.

"I haven't decided yet what I'll do after 2028," he told Sky Deutschland. "Maybe I'll stop.

"I've been in Formula 1 since I was 17 years old," Verstappen added. "That's a long time. I've had many seasons in F1 already. Maybe I want to do something different."

He indicated that his future is definitely at the wheel of a racing car, though.

"I want to do other types of races - long-distance races, for example," said Verstappen. "Or Maybe by then I'll be tired of travelling all the time.

"Maybe I want a simpler life and just do the races I like."

Think back to when F1 had fat drivers and skinny tires. Drivers drove in and out of F1 and for different manufacturers during the same year. I don't know how that worked, but it was much more relaxed.

Well, times have changed. 20+ races on 5 different continents in 2022. Billion-dollar budgets. F1 as a monolithic corporation with money-making it's only goal. I can see how that would become tiresome.

So, yeah. I think Mad-Max has a career driving, for sure. But his talents are transferrable. Michael Schumacher said WRC drivers are the best in the world. I tend to agree. So, Max behind the wheel of a 400 HP AWD WRC beast makes perfect sense to me. Hell, yeah!

Seriously, WRC drivers get to see the stage they are on for the first time - at 120+ mph! The Navigator shouting "6-right, jump, 2-left sharpens to 4 ..." the whole time. Seriously?

Like going to the grocery store with my wife: "Slow down! That light was RED! Turn here! I said turn HERE!" LOL.

And though I do love F1, it's still the same course for 50, 60, 70 laps. No more refuelling. Spec engines. Spec tires. Spec chassis. Spec everything. Like NASCAR or Indy. They turn left AND right though, so that's different.

Y'know, I hope Max DOES leave F1 and get into something that suits his talents. No matter what, he'll be fun to watch!

Are you getting that same old feeling as F1 yet lol That being said, not much compares to standing in a forest with it chuckin it down and watching Carlos and Colin zapping past you with a car every 2 mins, watching for an hour then everyone rushes into there cars , drives to next stage , and does the same all over again .---Ahh Happy days and nights .
