Max Verstappen says he will not do any community service tasks that make him "look like an idiot".

The Dutch driver was sentenced by the FIA to two days of community service for shoving Esteban Ocon after the Brazilian grand prix.

FIA president Todt admitted in Abu Dhabi that a stewarding role at a junior category race is one possibility for Verstappen's community service.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner joked: "I think he's going to be making cups of tea for Jean."

Verstappen also joked in Abu Dhabi that, although relieved he will not have to attend the FIA Gala award night because he is outside the top three, "maybe I can do it as a community service day".

More seriously, the 21-year-old said he will not be happy if his community service is too public.

"I'm definitely not going to look like an idiot," Verstappen said.

"I believe they are already being very hard on me for this, so let's find something that is suitable for me to do."

Max is young and a brilliant driver. Max has crashed into a fair number of cars the last couple of seasons and for a while looked like nothing was going to happen to him. Max has the ability to winning world champion ships a little down the line. However in saying this, Max you are only 21 years old my boy and you need to learn some humility and respect for your elder,s. You should take on whatever community service they give you, maybe you can change one man's life. If it's cleaning toilets in a restaurant and be happy. Somebody could be doing that same job for less money, a single mother who has to raise a family on that salary.Remember their is no job beneath any man and if you feel the community service is embarrassing you that's when you push you.Lastly listen to your elders, if you were put on two days of community service, you should just have said yes Sir. I was born British and moved to South Africa when I was four years old. Naturally I support Lewis Hamilton, (it s;been so long since a British driver did this well.
Lewis is also a lot older than most of you drivers and one day i will have to find another driver to support, however it must be someone of integrity, someone who will shake the hand of the man that beat him. Max you are very young enjoy these days and remember your fame can change lives.

Ah yes, a top notch puritan's advice worrying that someone out there might be having too much fun.
I have taken flack for having said earlier something I shall repeat here, too: Max is a racing car driver and not a monastery novice aiming to become a nun.

Yes simon, there's truth on what you say. Max being Max, he'd trot up to the convent and demand to be the Abbott - or Abbess as the case may be

He might not realise it, but comments like this do exactly what he claims he wants to avoid. He just looks like an idiot.

Put your big boy boots on Max, the time for using your youth as an excuse are well and truly over

I actually don't follow him that closely and am not sure what he did, or did not say. The fact, however, remains that he has been designated as a dumping ground by more than a few posters on this board. There are certainly drivers I like a lot more than Verstappen, Ocon and Leclerc easily come to mind. Vitriol hurled at his direction makes me to support him. Moralising about him showing no respect for others, just makes it clear beyond any doubt that too many old farts post here.

Ocon? You like the Ocon who ran into Max to avoid him winning the race?? The same Ocon who got the heaviest punishment for that move passible (10 sec's stop and go), the same Ocon who laughed in Max face for doing what he just did? You really like that guy? Oh my word.....

Yes, I like him. I issued no warranty to give you your money back if that doesn't sit well you. So for the record: I like Ocon, Leclerc, Vettel, Raikkonen, Kvyat, Sirotkin, and Markelov. Those are my choices, if you don't like them i have others!

You really are a sanctimonious troll Simon. I bet the kids in your classes hate your sermons. What’s really wrong with what John says. He identifies Max as a real and genuine talent, ✅ he says he’s crashed into a few people recently, ✅ He states that he needs to learn some humility and respect, ✅ He says that he should value the life chances he has compared to others less fortunate, ✅ and he states that Lewis is a man of integrity, ✅

So what’s your beef? We know you’d love to be watching Seb winning the WDC and I have sympathy there but you claim that you are the “spokesman for the underdog”, some sort of wannabe SuperHero but the truth is actually a lot less wholesome. Max is not the underdog even over the short to medium term. He’s very much a favourite, just look at the betting odds.

If you wanted to support the underdog as you claim you could do so with much more deserving cases on the F1 grid but the fact is that Max is a fast and pretty unlikeable person, which is why people speak against him more often than others. As he matures we can only hope that he will show a spark of respect for others and mellow his personality; for you though SIMON I fear you are a little too long in the tooth to change from your contrarian views. Anyway I’m sure that you have lots of essays to mark so I’ll keep you no longer.

Max is an idiot and always will be! He needs some humility like Lewis and Vetel. Yep Max the kid is always right - in his opinion- poor judgement Max. Until you accept your faults you are definately NOT world champion material . Riccardo must be celebrating the day he does not have to put up with calling Max his team mate. There is no 'I' in team Max- let's hope you can change from boy to man mentality in 2019.

Simon wake up and stop defending Max the tw*t!

I am not defending Max, I am just getting sick of all of you preachers dumping on him. In case you missed it, I shall repeat it, again, I side with the underdogs.

We all have to admit we would have a lot less to talk about if Max wouldn't have made it to F1. Maybe it's good to have a character like Max, who isn't a media trained robot and dares to say what he thinks.

OK Leopold- any comments about Max using physical abuse when he is disappointed about the outcome of a race?
Physical violence can NEVER ever be condoned - but Max says he would do the same again. Mad Max is a phyco who needs counselling. In my opinion.
