Sep.6 - Dr Helmut Marko says he will start taking Toto Wolff seriously again once Mercedes returns to being a "serious rival".

As well as being showered with boos by the Monza crowd last weekend, Verstappen's new all-time record for ten race wins in succession was played down by Wolff.

Wolff said it was a meaningless statistic that will only be recorded in Wikipedia - an online resource the Austrian says is not widely read.

"Wikipedia is one of the most read mediums - maybe someone can tell Wolff," Red Bull's Marko told Servus TV.

Earlier, the 80-year-old had said Verstappen was uncharacteristically nervous before the start of the Italian GP.

"This tenth victory in a row means a lot to him," Marko insists. "With every record comes even more motivation, and that also makes the team stronger.

"So it's not insignificant. We are happy and we are happy to take these records with us."

As for Verstappen, he is quoted by Speed Week as commenting: "Some fans just don't like who is currently winning. There is nothing I can do about that."

Marko, meanwhile, suspects that Mercedes' Wolff and Lewis Hamilton are simply guilty of sour grapes.

"That's the difference between us and them," said the Austrian. "We look at our own team to get the best performance.

"We just go about our business without making up all these kinds of stories like they do. But we don't worry about Mercedes as long as they are not a serious rival for us."

Marko even doubts that Red Bull's winning streak will necessarily end even in 2026, when the next set of regulations arrives - along with Red Bull's own engine.

"Our wildest and toughest project is to set up our own engine project," he said.

"We have already come a long way with that, and what we understand from the spies is that we are not at the front right now, but in second place."

It’s strange that the real world champion is rarely mentioned even by his own team. I suspect that Helmet is jealous of the great Adrien Newey without whom Red Bull ,Max and Helmet would be reduced to also rans. Adrien is the person responsible for his design winning 10 races in a row (with a little help from Honda let’s not forget). As Alonso has said Max like Hamilton before him was lucky to be in the in the right place at the right time. The way that Helmet talks about Checo is a disgrace and hopefully will come back to bite him.

Or it could just be that seeing his cars wins enough for AN, that and his £6m a year of course, some people don't need to be in the limelight 24/7, i also notice HM doesn't mention the truck drivers or the overly generous catering dept, dyo think hes jealous of those too?

If Vettel were to return I'd love to see him show up @ MB. Can you imagine he and hammy trying to out social justice and environmental warrior each other. It would be quite the spectacle.

All the drama queens needs to take a step back and focus on their own teams. This back and forth pettiness is embarrassing Is this backed by Liberty Media to generate more interests or promoting a spin off reality show…Team Principles of F1. Cat fights behind the paddock? Come on boys, play like everyone is a grown up, the cameras are rolling.

Helmut needs to take a break from giving interviews for a while after his latest faux pas regarding Perez. Cringe worthy to say the least. Respct the man for his abilities but interviews may not be his forte.

Helmut is a very smart man. He doesn’t seem to be a person who would make that kind of error regarding his own driver. He is old school, but these days honestly can be a real killer. Everything is about feelings and emotions and sensitivity.

I would recommend Toto's interview with the BBC’s Andrew Benson on BBC sport on line from 4th Sept. Of course everyone will put their own spin on it but it emphasises the need to read the whole thing instead of just jumping on the often misleading headlines.

Really not interested in anyone's interviews, more interested in the race and their results. It appears there are no shortages of words these days.

To be honest, Blo, f1 in the last couple of years, specifically since 2021, has turned into a bitch fest. I have been a fan for many years but I am tired of grown men turning into whiners and complainers. Not just MB but everybody. Let the race speak for itself. Someone that has a real problem, see the FIA. Stay away of cameras and interviews. Just talk about the race before and after and stay away from everything else. Would be more uplifting.

There is nothing said that hasn’t been said many times before by different journalist. Toto has made his point, he had complaints and opinions, hearing it about over and over doesn’t change the reality that MB has not built a competitive car in two years. Dismissing someone else’s achievements to come across very well
Sorry, Blo we will just have to agree to disagree. I’m not spinning anything. Wolfe said it. He dismissed MV consecutive wins as if we nothing. It personally, feel that was petty and small! You don’t, move on!

Actually Susan he congratulated Max on his wins and RB on the success of their car and said there was no justification for changing the rules, the rest had to catch up but you and others have clearly made your minds up. Read the article.
