Jun.8 - Sebastian Vettel would rather race at Bathurst, otherwise known as the famously challenging Mount Panorama circuit in Australia, than Las Vegas.

Formula 1 owner Liberty Media is said to be paying $240 million for a slice of Las Vegas that will house the F1 paddock for a race that will run down the fabled 'Strip'.

"They're trying to build their business, our business, and the fact that they're making investments to build Formula 1 - I think you can only applaud them for that," said McLaren CEO Zak Brown.

Quadruple world champion Vettel, however, is less impressed.

"To be honest, I have been to Vegas," said the German. "I didn't really like it. I think it's too busy and people misbehave.

"I'd rather go to Bathurst - take the cash we'll take to Vegas and invest it in great tracks that already exist," he added. "That would be a real challenge.

"I think that track is a monster. I've never been but, one day, I hope to go and experience it," the Aston Martin driver said.

Something is so wrong with F1 at the moment. Firstly rich, but below par drivers, can buy a drive now it seems unpopular below par car parks and street circuits can too.

      Yes, sad.

When Bernie left, it turned from a sport into a business. Americans love business and money. Sport... not so much.

Surprised Musk hasn't threatened to buy up F1 when he is sitting around puffing a fatty.

As I recall, Alan Jones won the last Las Vegas Car Park Grand Prix in 1981, and everyone was so very underwhelmed by the event that it wasn't used as an F1 venue again.
I believe that Liberty is attempting to make it a place where the so-called "celebrities" and "beautiful people" (I call them wankers!) can be seen as part of the scene. It's only about gouging more money out of F1.
Bathurst is a great world class circuit which would be a true test for the F1 teams and drivers, however, it currently lacks the infrastructure required to hold an F1 event. Liberty would be better served spending their $240 million on Bathurst to hold an F1 event, although not so many "celebrities" and wankers available at Bathurst as there are in Las Vegas!

Well, a few weeks ago they held the annual Elvis look-alike festival in Parkes, which is not far from Bathurst. I am sure you could get it done there for free by a look-alike!
Sorry, no celebrity wankers in Bathurst!
