Sebastian Vettel says he has no plans to retire.

At the end of last year, the German was criticised for making mistakes that contributed to Ferrari not winning the world championship.

And now, those same critics are saying Vettel could be challenged in 2019 by his new teammate Charles Leclerc.

"Over the years I've gotten used to dealing with criticism, even if it's not fair," the German told Sport Bild.

However, he says he is not giving up.

"I think it's clear that I'm not in the spring of my career anymore," said Vettel.

"On the other hand, at 31 I still have plenty of time in this sport. Looking back, Michael was even a bit older than me when he won his first title with Ferrari. And Lewis is two years older than me.

"I still have no thoughts of retiring," Vettel added. "On the contrary, I'm doing everything to fulfil my dream of the title with Ferrari. And my family supports me."

So when asked if he has thought about switching to Mercedes, as his mentor Michael Schumacher eventually did, Vettel answered: "No. My goal is to win with Ferrari."

Finally, Vettel confirmed that he put in a good word with Ferrari when it signed up his friend and countryman Pascal Wehrlein as simulator driver.

"I didn't sign his contract, but when the topic came up, I said his name," Vettel said.

Why is Vettel critics' main target? Now they want him to retire before his time! I trust he will give them something to talk about when he gets his 5th title this year! Let them go after other drivers who made plenty of mistakes over years but of course those were not in title battles. How about telling Hamilton he should retire at the end of this season if he doesn't win the title and I am sure people who support him would not like him to go yet and after all it is up to him to decide when is the right time to leave F1.There are some new talented new drivers but we need to see how quickly they can watch and learn from those who have been at the top for a few years and then we they will become worthy replacements for the greats like Seb and Lewis. I am looking forward to the first race at Melbourne and love to see Ferrari win it again but I know the competition is going to be fierce so nobody knows who might produce an unexpected win.Forza Ferrari!

Vettel won't win the F1 crown this year -reasons
    -too arrogant/
-makes too many mistakes under pressure/
    - lacks the ability to learn from his mistakes
-Hamilton NEVER gives in and loves pressure!

6th the for Ham this year !

I think Vettel's time to win is over and hope he can be work partner to help Leclerc win in his first year in ferrari. I guess Vettel mabe stands a year more because Mick needs a learning year in a small team, or pherhaps give a Wherlein a chance to partner Leclerc until Mick is fit .
More comments i hope the best young drivers get the best cars, so i see Norris the mclaren leader for a long time, Albon should replace Gasly because is more talented and faster. I would like to see Magnussen in a top team if Versttapen move to Mercedes in 2020 so Mag could replace him alongside in the time pherhaps Albon . The coming times will show us if my thougts are right or not.

I would like to see more teams running in F1, 24 cars are more pleasant and if possible 4,5 temas fighting for championship with a better williams than is now, this sport is too much beautiful so help it to became better, more races in Europe and not in arabic countrys they don't have passion to this sport.

Why do have to show such foul outdated views. Frankly Leopold should bar you and anyone else from posting on this forum when you are clearly extolling racist views. It may be acceptable where you live but certainly not in the UK. Lets hope you retract your horrid views and show some respect to the greatest driver of his generation. Black or White is irrelevant, we are here to talk about F1.

I agree that those racist comments are not acceptable on any forum and especially on this one.We are only judging the drivers according to their abilities, skill and effort they put into their performance each time and that certainly does not depend on their looks or colour of their skin.So it is really disappointing to read such comment that refer to drivers skin colour , yet I am not at all surprised as I am aware that some people look at others and see nothing beyond their skin colour, blinded by their own ignorance and prejudice.
