Nov.26 - Sebastian Vettel is still not ruling out a potential return to top motorsport.

The 36-year-old quadruple world champion retired from Formula 1 at the end of last year, but he has consistently hinted that his career may not in fact be over.

"It could be that I'll get back into it," the German told RTL. "I don't know what kind of car yet.

"It's a passion of mine and something that interests me very much," the former Red Bull and Ferrari driver added.

However, Vettel said that doesn't mean that his return is imminent, as he is "quite happy with the way it is right now".

"Of course it could always happen, because it's something I miss and when I'm standing next to the track, of course it makes me tingle. It's not easy to watch."

That's because Vettel, with a wife and several young children, said he didn't quit Formula 1 because he was tired of racing. "It was a decision for a lot of other things," he said.

One option for Vettel may be Le Mans and the world endurance championship, where his protege Mick Schumacher will race next year.

"Nothing has been signed so far or decided, but I have the matter in mind," Vettel admits.

As for Schumacher, Vettel says it's "great" for his 24-year-old friend that he has signed up with Alpine to contest WEC and Le Mans in 2024 alongside his existing Mercedes reserve driver duties.

"It's great for him that he will sit in a racing car again and race. At the same time he is staying in Formula 1, sticking with it and will continue to learn there," he said.

"I hope he gets the chance in Formula 1 again."

As a Seb fan it's a roller coaster sometimes I believe Seb will never race again sometimes I believe he will I want him back i still think he has so much still to offer in racing even at Aston martin he had moments of absolute brilliance it would be a shame if we don't see him racing again

he will race again. just not in F1.
I think it would be good to see him race again. he achieved a lot young and had briliant successes before he to the Ferrari retirement plan. it was great following him through the years.
there is always an over abundance of drivers. sure the teams don't complain. but FE, WEC and indy now offer extra chances for some.
I once read a statistic that pointed out more astronauts have gone to space than drivers compete in F1.
just shows you how limiting opportunities are. and wow awe... cheers

The trouble is f1 has enough drivers wanting a seat, if only there were more teams...! Sure hed be a prize signing for any team outside F1 but whats there for him , it seems the way ex f1 drivers go is endurance racing, but i think if he wants to race , its in f1-- but 24 weeknds a year, nawww not a hope in hell hell do that again , could be wrong but the articles right , plenty of cash , a loving wife, young family ,does he rally need racing, even if he says he does/maybe/could/might

Well if he still has the desire to Win and misses F1 then it's possible being a 4 Time World Champion gives him a seat if he wants to return maybe having time away may either have passion to return or happy to stay away many world champions have come back Lauda. Mansell. Prost. Schumacher. Raikkonen and Alonso but WEC would be a start to a possible return

Shrop', Vettel is a racer. He will covet that desire for many years before it dissipates. A few distance races, especially if alongside Mick, would be good for his soul. What I don't see is his return to a full-ltime position in F1 in any capacity.
