The mixed reception as Nico Rosberg stepped forward to receive his runners-up accolade in the aftermath of the Italian Grand Prix, compared to Lewis Hamilton’s gracious applause and cheering, told a lot of the story we are witnessing in F1 this season, in just a matter of minutes.

Rosberg, has two victories less than that of his Mercedes teammate thus far in the season, but currently leads the Englishman by 22 points in the Championship standings. Hamilton however, appears to be the fan’s favourite in the long-running battle between the Mercedes duo for this year’s Driver’s title and his following was only increased when Rosberg effectively caused Hamilton’s early retirement from a recent GP in Spa, Belgium after colliding with the 29-year-old’s car – a move that could still yet prove the deciding factor in the title run-in this season.

The momentum, though, is now firmly with the man from Stevenage going into the final few races of the season, after a less than stellar week for Rosberg leading up to – and including – the Italian GP in Monza this past weekend. Mercedes had threatened the pair that one may be cut loose if they cannot race cleanly together and Rosberg – taking much of the flak – decided to shoulder the responsibility for the clash and issued a swift apology on the matter. This will have no doubt caused the German to lose some of his edge and he has since become the villain in many fan’s eyes in this dramatic title race.

Rosberg’s mood will have only got worse following Hamilton’s impressive recovery win in Monza, which saw him steal the Italian GP from Rosberg’s clutches after capitalising on a mistake at a chicane on lap 29 after a start that saw the Englishman drop from first to fourth by the opening chicane of the race.

For Hamilton though, a gap of just 22 points will now surely seem a target he can reach come the end of the season, with just seven races remaining in the race calendar. Hamilton qualified for the race in Italy in pole position and with this being the first since May for the Englishman, it seemed he was fully up to the challenge of scalping some much needed points before the next race – in Singapore – in just a few weeks’ time.

Should the race go the distance then you would be mad not to want to watch the concluding race of the F1 season in Abu Dhabi, live at the Yas Marina Circuit to see just who exactly will emerge as this year’s Driver’s Champion. The trip may cost a lot less than expected though, if you manage to win tickets to the final F1 Grand Prix of 2014 or at the very least a cash jackpot by playing many of the exciting games offered by Microgaming. Who knows, that trip may be less than a lifetime a win should you win.
