Mar.22 - Ralf Schumacher, who won all six of his F1 victories with the British team, thinks the problem at Williams could be its management.

He told Germany's motorsport-total.com that the struggling Oxfordshire based outfit is currently being run with "fear and terror".

Schumacher, 43, said it was the same as when Sir Frank Williams ran the team alone in the 70's.

"Williams has a very special leadership style. As long as Patrick Head was there it was balanced," he said.

"It's a style of leadership from the 70's and 80's, a bit of a reign of fear and terror. It's a shame, because I think people need to be motivated."

Head, though, has long retired, and the team is now run by Sir Frank's daughter Claire.

"With the current structure, Williams cannot get the best out of its employees, because there is no team cohesion," Schumacher said. "The engineers are working against each other more than with each other.

"Unfortunately, Claire has kept her father's habits, and she should certainly wonder if that is the right job for her. Perhaps Williams' team management needs to be restructured," he added.

"A man (Paddy Lowe) who has just been fired was very successful at other teams, and even he failed to put Williams back on track. That's enough to start asking questions," said Ralf.

Yep, I watched the programme as well.

Frank Williams is so controlling he even sleeps in the factory with the cars most nights- on a corridor- unbelievable! His poor 24/7 nurse must wish he didn't pay so well so she could find someone else to nurse!!

Claire's eldest brother doesn't speak to her anymore since the old man made Claire his successor. Claire is way over her head and doesn't have the skills or confidence to ask her dad to stop interferring and enjoy his last years out of the William's factory. However Frank is going nowhere- hence William's demise!

I bet Paddy Lowe is sooo happy to be on gardening leave- he couldn't wait get out of hell on earth!

Working for Williams- a sinking ship- must be challenging to say the least!

No F1 principal will get their head above ground if they do not get over the "way it was". Times have changed and will always do so. Stop allowing back room partisan deals ruin the great teams. You know that I mean the political acquisition of drivers. The complete disregard of talent; even to include F1 world champions who did; could and still can drive circles around the youth with more money than sense. That is why the likes of Button and Alonso are so easily discarded. The team principals try to rationalize mayhem that their young drivers create through a barely and cynically managed metric of disposable talent both young and old. And it is the old partisan coots that keep real talent from succeeding with multiple championship wins that could be assured with the ongoing talent development that helped create the juggernaut of Schumacher. He would only be another two time championship winner if the politics of industrial Deutsch Land had deemed someone else to be deserving of their monetary mantel.
There is always a new and fabulous talent coming along but they will only get a turn at the gold ring if the whims of the monied class align and cast the bones to decide, stupidly; whom is the most politically deserving,
