May 24 - Toto Wolff has issued his clearest warning yet that race protests are looming large over the next Formula 1 race in Baku.

The Mercedes boss hinted in Monaco last week that the FIA's delay in strengthening rear wing flexibility tests until after the ultra-fast street race in Azerbaijan could hand title rival Red Bull a clear advantage.

"If the ambiguity with Red Bull's wing brings them an advantage in Baku, we will turn to the stewards," he said on Sunday.

"If this is not enough, we will turn to the FIA international court of appeal. So I think the FIA should clarify this issue before Baku, and if this doesn't happen, there may be a big confusion coming up."

Wolff also laughed off his Red Bull counterpart Christian Horner's counter-punch suggesting the front wing on Mercedes' 2021 car visibly flexes at high speed.

"We have analysed our front wing and it is almost the same as theirs," Wolff insisted.

If you can't kick a guy when he's down, when CAN you kick him? HAM has had many days in the sun and he will have more. At least he stopped posting pic's of himself wearing torn britches sitting on the wing of a big red jet.

I think the FIA is bring the competition into disrepute they should be made to sort themselves out by the world council, they made the rules and now won't uphold them.

My opinion? Drivers should concentrate on driving and mostly shut the heck up! Manufacturers should work on their cars and do the same. Now you have Mercedes claiming that Red Bull has a wing advantage... Give me a break, Mercedes had a advantage for years just by throwing more money around than anybody else.

Mercedes and Lewis are poupouing because they can’ be allowed to win every race, now that is sportsmanship!!!

Regretfully Lewis publicly turned against the hand that fed him an extremely lucrative career, acting like a childish sore loser, what a spectacle. For this, I’m sure

If Lewis’ Merc was good enough to get fastest lap, how was he not able to do better than seventh place with it? Oh yeah, right, right, it’s hard to pass at Monaco, the Merc. is not suited to that track, the pit crew screwed up, the team manager made a bad call, the Red Bull has a bad wing, the tires are all wrong, Mad Max cut off Valteri at the start, it should have rained... Be blah, be blah, be blah.

You know what? Max won by delivering a top of the line performance. Actually he drove the kind of race that Lewis often drove in the last years: he pushed his way into the lead, sailed away from everybody else, with no one able to challenge him. Remember now, when Lewis did it that way it apparently demonstrated that he was the GOAT......

And if Pastor Maldonado had been a better driver instead of a menace, he could have been world champion at least couple of times also!

And if Lewis had not gotten Covid 19 no one would have found out that a back bencher could lead the pack in his Merc...

And, and, and, if, if if. Champion are not decided by re-writing history. Things happen....

@True Post: Interesting point about Hammer clinching fastest lap. And he did it with USED softs after seemingly struggling the entire race. Running in dirty air shouldn't compute as he wasn't even that close to Gasly; and I doubt any significant aero adjustments were made in that pit stop. Quite perplexing and intriguing.
Now as to your rant, Merc deserves criticism as justified by what happened to Bottas and Lewis's loss of at least two places despite having Bottas and Leclerc out. Multiple title world champions are not duty bound to be humble; especially about a loss that's not entirely his fault.
As to your GOAT mocking, keep in mind Lewis is the only driver in the 21st century that has won it 3 times for 2 different teams! And he did in his second year with not the best car. He's not impervious to a bad day at the office.

Reasonable but feeble defense attempt, Jax, but the loss WAS entirely his fault. He was substandard all weekend. The best he could do was qualify 7th, behind a friggin' Alphatauri. If the stop had been perfect he still would have been well behind a RB, a Ferrari and a McLaren. True Post was fair and accurate. Your guy just plain sucked at Monaco.

if his No2 can get 3rd on the grid , then yes its totally acceptable to say Lulus to blame, instead of lumping the team onto his poor performance where his fault lays is NOT saying sorry guys I had a bad day, , hes angling for a long term contract so , obviously he wont lay any blame on himself, he got fastest lap because he was running in free air after his ps and on pretty low fuel to by then and those Softs were how wel used? , ha a few laps in Quali 2 me thinks? not rocket science.

If Lulus getting grief from F1 fans, then im afraid hes only himself to blame.

Talk about a bad day, btw hows business since I gave your taxi firm a shout out ?

Ill tell you hopw desparate MB are to get rid of there F1 TEAM they allowed jim ratcliffe to buy 33% of it , now JR owns Ineos and they make the new 4 x 4 Grenadier.

Nothing wrong so far one might think, but Ah , thats where it goes a bit pear shaped, its ice is bought directly from BMW

So what we have is Ineos plastered all over the Merc and all the time they are in bed with Arch rival BMW, I mean, you couldnt make it up.

BMW must be laughing there arses off, and as for JR just shows he really isnt interested in F1 or MB IMO

Imagine all those engine workers trying there best for Sweet dear Lewis , while its Ineos and BMW who are getting free Pr.

Relax my Old Racer friend . Let me break it down for you. You do remember that a certain Ferrari driver caused a red flag in qualy which screwed anybody( including Sainz) who could've improved right?! Lewis has been known to pull out a brilliant qualy after struggling the whole weekend. But a win wasn't the aim or the problem anymore. It's the grid positions he lost to both Gas and Vet during the race. Which means valuable points....which means he could've still been in the lead! That's on Merc, not him.
Now Hammer purposely stayed a fair distance from Gasly to preserve his tyres as it's futile running close when you likely won't pass. He had closed to within a second of Gasly at one point and backed off for precisely the reason I just said. And that's why he was pissed about the stop because he wasn't expecting it yet, hence, never made an effort to close the gap to improve for an undercut.

C'mon, Jax, he wasn't even close to competitive on that final lap Check the sector 1 and 2 times. True, LEC's crash screwed SAI and BOT, but Sir Lewis? No way. Try some facts and data and stifle your HAMlove. He had a bad weekend...so what? Time to concentrate on Baku.
