In the first free practice for the 12 round of the 2019 F1 season in Hungary we saw the Ferrari SF90 of Vettel driving around with new bardgeboards.
Mercedes had plenty of early issues which were disrupting their run plans in the early stages of first practice. Friday running is so important to learn about the track conditions and tyre wear to name but two, so any running missed really has an impact on the weekend moving forward. Bottas had an engine problem and couldn't set a lap time.
Haas were looking strong in the early stages, with Magnussen on P5, and Grosjean a fraction behind on P6. The team dynamic will be interesting to see this weekend, with both drivers in need of a good race.
Raikkonen's Alfa Romeo was sprayed with flow vis paint to check out their aerodynamic performance.
After 20 minutes it started to drizzle and the already green track was getting even more slippery. 15 minutes later the drizzle moved up to rain showers and all cars returned to their garage.
It wasn't an error-free session for all drivers. The intermittent rain in the early stages adding to the confusion. Verstappen spun twice, and Perez and Stroll both had incidents for Racing Point. Leclerc ran wide, and quite a few cars suffered front wing damage when running over the kerbs in Turn 4.
The quickest lap of last years FP1 was 1:17.613 min, set by Daniel Ricciardo in the Red Bull.

Why did dry tyres have grooves in 90's
If I remember correctly, they were to reduce the amount of grip, but to have wider tyres for cosmetic reason.
