Lando Norris was the first to enter the street circuit in Sochi with the McLaren MCL34. The weather is still dry, but predictions say that some rain will fall during this weekend.
All four Honda powered cars will be fitted with a new V6 combustion engine on Saturday. Because all drivers have used more than the 3 units, they will all be penalized and have to start Sunday's race from the back of the grid.
Home grand prix driver Daniil Kvyat had a bad start of the weekend in the Toro Rosso as his cars stopped with an engine problem and caused a VSC in turn 15.
Daniel Ricciardo spun into the wall at the end of first practice and damaged the Renault RS19.
