Both Red Bull drivers recorded the first lap times this session. It was 1:19.556 min for Daniel Riccoardo and 1:19.280 min for Max Verstappen. Both times were set on Medium tyres, the hardest compound of this weekend.

Kimi Raikkonen drove similar lap times with the Ferrari in the early stage of the session, but used the Ultrasoft Pirelli tyres.

The track was very green. We saw a lot of drivers who couldn't keep their car on the black stuff. After half an hour into the session we saw Marcus Ericsson spin off in turn 14 with the Alfa Romeo Sauber car. Ten minutes later Verstappen also made spin in turn 1.

We also saw Lewis Hamilton and Antonio Giovinazzi locking up their right front tyre in the braking zone of turn 1.

All Ferrari powered cars (Haas and Sauber) got the newest Ferrari (2018 spec-3) power unit for this weekend. In hour into the session Ericsson lost control of his Sauber again. This time he lost control of his car in high speed corner 4, were the cars reach a speed of around 250 km/h.
