Although his Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton drove 10 laps more, Valtteri Bottas drove the quickest lap time during second practice for the 2019 British Grand Prix.
Kimi Raikkonen who had a technical issue in FP1 was the first to go out with the Alfa Romeo C38. Raikkonen will be driving one of the old Alfa Romeo 158 F1 cars that has been used for the first ever F1 race in 1950, during the drivers parade before the race.
Again we saw a lot of drivers having trouble in negotiating turn 6. Alexander Albon had a very similar avoiding action in the Toro Rosso as in FP1, when he couldn't make the corner again in FP2 and gone on to the grass.
British driver and Rookie at Williams, George Russel had a gearbox issue. He only could drive 11 laps. Valtteri Bottas also had a car issue and had to stay in the garage to fix a spark plug problem.
Renault driver Daniel Ricciardo also had a technical problem and stopped the RS19 at Maggotts - Becketts complex causing a VSC.
Both Mercedes drivers again topped the timesheet the complete session. Both Ferrari's came up to speed and was the second fastest team while the rest of the grid looks to be very competitive.
The lap times should be a little bit slower this year. The reason for that is elimination of the start/finish DRS zone. Last years quickest lap time in FP2 was 1:27.552 min driven by Sebastian Vettel in the Ferrari SF71H.
