In FP2 Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas was able to record some lap times and try to get some laps under his belt. He left the garage as first, when after only 3 minutes Alexander Albon caused a short red flag session when he crashed his Toro Rosso into the wall in turn 14. Albon steered his left-rear onto the grass while entering the last corner of the Hungaroring and spun his car out of control. He spun across the tarmac next to the circuit and hit the barrier quite hard. This impact damaged the complete left side of his car and would not be fixed before the end of the session.
When the red session period ended, we saw Bottas going out again as first and it started to drizzle. Bottas drove the quickest lap time on medium tyres, which was a 1:18.289 min. Renault driver Daniel Ricciardo was only 0.308 sec, but on the soft fastest tyres.
With 1 hour both Red Bull's topped the time sheet with Pierre Gasly on P1 with a 1:17.854 min on soft and Verstappen only 0.055 sec behind on medium tyres. Then the rain started to intensify and some drivers went out on intermediates to get some experiences in case of a wet race. But after a few minutes the track became to dry for intermediates and wasn't dry enough for slicks and all cars stayed in the garage.
With 25 minutes to go the circuit was wet enough for intermediate tyres and a lot of drivers went out for a few wet laps. In the beginning Max Verstappen was 3 seconds faster than the rest of the grid in the Red Bull with a lap time of 1:32.659 min on intermediates. Later on into this wet period Valtteri Bottas did improve Verstappen's time by 3 tenths of a second. Hamilton waited a long time before going out on intermediates. He drove out of the Mercedes garage on intermediates with 4:30 min left, when the rain was coming down even more and his quickest lap time was a 1:37.058 min.
Sebastian Vettel drove the quickest lap of last years FP2 with a 1:16.834 min in the Ferrari.

Nice one Danny Ricciardo. and regards Hamilton coming out with just 430 mins to go. I remember very well Damon Hill coming out with 300 mins left to go and would get pole.
Really wish that FIA/F-1 would have pushed for better aero in 2020. Why make everyone suffer with this silly no-follow/hardly-any-passing stuff. The time to act is now; not some future "convenient" date, because one team doesn't like it, etc. F-1 still needs lots of help~!!
