Kimi Raikkonen drove the first lap time in FP2 in the Ferrari on the hardest Supersoft tyres drivers are allowed to choose from. He drove a lap time of 1.20.027 and was much slower on the hardest compound.
Half way the session Max Verstappen put on same Hypersoft tyres to try and beat his time of FP1. He drove a 1:16.720 lap time and came 1 tent of a second short.
With 10 minutes to go he stopped his RB 14 at the end of the start/finish straight with probably a battery problem.
It's the first time this season we see Hamilton on P7 during FP2 and Carlos Sainz on P3 with the Renault.
Brandon Hartley also had a good day in Mexico City. He drove the Toro Rosso STR12 with the updated package and showed he was a second faster than his highly rated Pierre Gasly.
All drivers drove their fastest lap on the softest compound, the Hypersoft Pirelli tyres.
Last years quickest lap time in FP2 was driven by Daniel Ricciardo in the RB13. His lap time was 1:17,801 min.
