The last practice for the 2019 Hungarian GP was delayed 10 minutes by road works in turn 4. In the earlier F2 race this morning a car lost a lot oil around the Hungaroring that had to be cleared. Normally FP3 is takes 1 hour, but because the final practice has to be finished 2 hours before qualifying the clock was started at 12 (local) and was 10 minutes shorter than normal.
After 29 minutes Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel was quickest on the red soft tyres with a 1:17.435 min and was almost 0.8 sec. quicker than his teammate Charles Leclerc. Max Verstappen of Red Bull and both Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas didn't clock any lap times yet.
Hamilton and Bottas set their first lap time after 30 minutes and drove the 3rd and 4th quickest lap time until now. Verstappen was the last of the top 3 team drivers to put in a lap time. His first lap was 5th quickest and over 0.4 sec. slower than Vettel's. One lap later Verstappen improved his lap to be 1st with a 1:17.035.
With 10 minutes to go Leclerc and Hamilton took over the quickest lap time of Verstappen with a 1:16.392 and a 1:16.339 consecutively. McLaren driver Lando Norris was also very quick and even had beaten Vettel's time to be 5th wit less than 0.7 sec behind the quickest lap. He even was quickest in the first sector up till then.
In the last 6 minutes all drivers went out to do some decent qualifying s simulation runs and the quickest lap time was beaten almost every lap by a different driver. Hamilton did drive the quickest lap, but Verstappen and Vettel were very close! Verstappen only was 0.013 sec slower on P2 and Vettel only a 0.082 sec. gap to Hamilton on P3.
The quickest lap of last years FP3 was 1:16.170 min, driven by Sebastian Vettel in the Ferrari.

The first 7 drivers times on the 3rd qualifying session are close enough to be contenders for a race win. Mercedes will probably have the better race pace due to the quality of the car and set up with Red Bull close and then the Ferrari's. Ferrari crew is new to each other and they have work to do before they will be on par with Mercedes and Red Bull. Strategy with the least mistakes will determine who wins on the Red Bull and Ferrari teams.Mercedes will have it easier but can not afford fundamental mistakes
