Fernando Alonso was the first to drive a timed lap in the final practice for the Russian GP with his McLaren MCL33. He drove a 1:37.713 on Hypersofts.
38 years old Kimi Raikkonen entered the track after 10 minutes and set the fastest lap ride away. His time was beaten by his team mate Sebastian Vettel a few moments later. Both were driving their laps on the quickest Hypersoft tyres.
After the Ferrari we saw both Mercedes Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton doing their first laps. Bottas was a bit faster than Vettel. He drove a time of 1:33.809 min and was only 0,05 sec faster than the Ferrari driver. Hamilton was at first slower than Vettel, but improved his time to became fastest with 1:33.664.
Both Red Bull's came out after 20 minutes. Daniel Ricciardo was over a second slower than Raikkonen who was on P4. Half way into the session Max Verstappen was giving it all to get a good lap time, but couldn't keep the Red Bull on the track and gone wide in a lot of corners and slowed down and was 9th fastest. Red Bull was lacking pace. Force India driver Sergio Pérez even beat the Ricciardo for P5.
With 14 minutes to go Valtteri Bottas improved Hamilton's fastest lap to 1:33.321. Hamilton then also drove out on a new set of Hypersoft tyres to be faster with a 1:33.067. That lap time was already over 0.1 sec. faster than last years pole time of Vettel.
With a final run Verstappen put in a good lap and was able to approach Raikkonen's time with 2.5 tenths difference and ended up as 5th.
Rookie driver Charles Leclerc did a very good job by putting the Sauber on P7 and was best of the rest. His teammate Marcus Ericsson was way back on P15.
The best lap time of last years final practice was 1:34,001 min driven by Sebastian Vettel on Ultrasofts with the Ferrari SF70H.
