Qualifying Results 2014 Australian F1 Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton will start on pole position with his Mercedes W05 for tomorrows 2014 Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. Hamilton scored his 32nd pole position of his F1 career and the 18th pole for his team Mercedes.
Because of rain the first Formula one 2014 qualifying session in Australia had a few surprises. During Q1 it started to rain and because Kamui Kobayashi went out early he could make it to Q2 for Caterham.
Home racer Daniel Ricciardo for Red Bull topped the time tables in Q1 and both Lotus drivers Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado where last.
All cars started Q2 on intermediate Pirelli rain tyres. Albert Park circuit in Melbourne dried out and lap times got quicker each lap. Until the last second of the second qualifying session each driver had a change to go to Q3. At the end of Q2 the rain came back and Kimi Raikkonen crashed his Ferrari F14 T damaged his front and had to stop.
Nico Rosberg came out as fastest for Mercedes, while Sebastian Vettel finished 12th and wasn't fast enough to go to Q3 and fight for pole position.
The third qualifying session again was very wet. Almost all cars where on full wets. Only Fernando Alonso drove on intermediate wet tyres with his Ferrari. Australian Daniel Ricciardo finished 2nd for Red Bull. Hamilton's teammate at Mercedes Nico Rosberg will start as 3rd tomorrow.
