Lewis Hamilton scored his 79th pole position in Singapore today. He will start from P1 in tomorrow's 2018 Singapore Grand Prix. It was the 96th pole for the Mercedes F1 team.

The cars and tyres of today are a lot quicker. The fastest qualifying time 10 years was 1:44.014 min driven by Felipe Massa in the Ferrari. Which was over 8 seconds slower than the pole time of today. The pole time of Sebastian Vettel last year was 1:39.491, also 3,5 seconds slower!

    wow! Really didn't see that coming. Hamilton was epic and to be fair to him so was MaxV. Ferrari 3rd and 5th, who'd have guessed that right before Q3 on a dry track?

      I think he’s a really good driver too, very fast and smooth in the mound of Jenson Button but more aggressive and prone to red mist. That said, I don’t believe anyone on the grid today could have done what Hamilton did in that same car. Valtteri is no slouch but seven tenths is a big margin. Also well done to MaxV who drove fantastically well too. If only he didn’t take every opportunity humanly possible to criticise the Renault engine I’d have thought more of him because next year with the Honda inside it he might be thinking the same thing but won’t be able to vent it.
