Charles Leclerc won his 7th F1 race at the 2024 Italian F1 GP today. The Ferrari driver started from P4 position and won on the Monza circuit for the second time. It was the second win oft the season for the Monegasque . The Ferrari team scored their 246th F1 GP win, it was the 3rd win of the season and the 20th time Scuderia Ferrari won the Italian F1 GP.

Leclerc Triumphs at Monza: A Race for the Ages

A Slow Burn Turns to Scorching Action

The 2024 Italian Grand Prix at Monza started as a slow burner but rapidly transformed into one of the most thrilling races of the season. With strategic masterstrokes, intense wheel-to-wheel battles, and a hometown hero emerging victorious, the Tifosi were treated to a race they will not forget anytime soon. Charles Leclerc, driving for Ferrari, pulled off an audacious one-stop strategy to secure a remarkable victory at the Temple of Speed, sending the home crowd into rapturous celebrations.

Leclerc’s Masterful Strategy Pays Off

Starting from fourth on the grid, Leclerc was not the initial favorite for the win. However, the Monegasque driver executed a flawless race, defying the odds with a daring one-stop strategy that saw him fend off the challenges of McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. The Ferrari pit wall, often criticized for questionable calls, played a blinder this time. As other teams scrambled with two-stop strategies, Leclerc nursed his hard tires to the end, showing incredible pace despite the massive degradation concerns.

Leclerc's victory marks his second win at Monza and his second win of the season, following his triumph at the Monaco Grand Prix earlier this year. The significance of winning both his home race and Ferrari's home race in the same season was not lost on him, as he expressed his overwhelming emotions after crossing the finish line.

McLaren Duo Complete the Podium

Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris completed the podium, with the Australian rookie finishing 2.6 seconds behind Leclerc. Piastri, who led for much of the race after a bold move on his teammate at the start, could not hold off Leclerc's charge. The decision to opt for a two-stop strategy ultimately cost McLaren the victory, with Piastri admitting post-race that the strategy call was painful but something they had to try.

Lando Norris, who started from pole position, was left to ponder what could have been. After being overtaken by both Piastri and Leclerc early in the race, Norris could not regain the lost ground. Although disappointed with third place, the Briton acknowledged that Ferrari executed a better race strategy, tipping his hat to Leclerc and the Scuderia.

Hamilton and Verstappen in the Mix

Further down the order, Lewis Hamilton finished in fifth place after a spirited drive that saw him battling with Max Verstappen throughout the race. Verstappen, who struggled with his car's balance all weekend, crossed the line in sixth, marking another tough outing for the Dutchman. Mercedes and Red Bull were unable to match the pace of the Ferraris and McLarens, with both teams opting for two-stop strategies that did not pay off as hoped.

Williams Scores Valuable Points

Williams enjoyed a positive day at the office, with Alexander Albon finishing in ninth place, securing two crucial points. Albon, like Leclerc, made a one-stop strategy work, outperforming many midfield rivals. His teammate, Franco Colapinto, finished just outside the points in 12th, marking a solid debut race weekend for the Argentine driver.

Tsunoda’s Misfortune and Haas’s Woes

Nico Hulkenberg, Haas VF-24, and Yuki Tsunoda, VCARB 01, clash at the start during the 2024 Italian GP

Yuki Tsunoda's race ended prematurely after a collision with Nico Hulkenberg forced the Japanese driver to retire. The incident was just one of many setbacks for the Haas team, with both Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen receiving time penalties for separate incidents. Despite the penalties, Magnussen managed to secure a solitary point by finishing tenth, but it was a race to forget for the American outfit.

The Championship Battle Tightens

With Leclerc's win and McLaren's double podium, the Constructors' Championship has become even more intriguing. McLaren has closed the gap to Red Bull, who are now just eight points ahead. Ferrari, too, cannot be discounted from the fight, especially after today's impressive performance.

For Charles Leclerc, the victory at Monza was not just about the 25 points—it was about making a statement. The win has reinvigorated Ferrari's season and given the Tifosi hope that their team can challenge for top honors once again.

As the F1 circus moves on to the next round, the championship battle is heating up, and with eight races still to go, it's all to play for. Monza may have been a slow burner at the start, but by the end, it delivered a high-octane spectacle that will be remembered for years to come.

    I definitely didn't see a Ferrari victory with a 1-stop strategy coming.
McLaren dropped the ball in the end.
A good clean debut race by Colapinto & even some overtaking.
Ricciardo & Hulkenberg were surprisingly clumsy, though.
FIA finally had the courage to hand out enough penalty points for 12.
Admittedly, I'd totally forgotten he was on 10, so I didn't think about him possibly receiving 2 after his 10-second time penalty graphic appeared.
Oh well, Bearman receives another opportunity before becoming a full-time driver.

Ok , heres the real result 1st Lando , 2nd Max, and thats the points difference for the championship , so again cry baby moody Lando , got the most points for the championship and So did Max , its a net loss of 7+1 to Lando Rb will see this as a WIN, as for the winner on the day , its no longer King George but King Charles (of Monza)

Albon did well, and his new team mate pepsicola-pinto

62 points behind and 8 races what do we think , for comparison as ive already said JBs 2009 season , he never won a race in the 2nd half of it and still won the WDC

Thats the case for the defence Ma"lord
