Lewis Hamilton is one step closer in scoring his 5th Formula 1 drivers title. He won his 67th F1 race win today in Hungary. He lead the race from start to finish to win his 5th race of the 2018 F1 season.
Because the qualifying session was wet and today's race starts off dry, each team and driver can choose the tyre compound they want to start the race on.
A lot of cars started on the tyre purple Ultrasoft compound that has the most grip at the start and the first lap when the tyres aren't at their optimal temperature. From the front runners only Sebastian Vettel started on the Soft compound.
The start was clean and Max Verstappen overtook 2 places in first corner with his Red Bull to go to P5. In the back of the field there were a lot of collisions, but all cars kept going without to much damage.
At the end of lap 1 it was Charles Leclerc who was the first to retired his Sauber with a technical issue.
In lap 6 it was the unfortunate Verstappen who's engine failed to perform and had to retire his Red Bull RB14. His retirement caused a VSC.
Kimi Raikkonen was the first to make a pitstop with his Ferrari to get the yellow Soft tyres in lap 15. In lap 25 race leader Hamilton pitted to also get a new set of yellow soft tyres on his Mercedes W09 and returned to the track as race leader.
In lap 51 Belgian driver Stoffel Vandoorne also retired his McLaren with a gearbox problem.
At the end of the race a lot happened to Valtteri Bottas. He was trying to keep both Ferrari's behind him. But with a few laps to go Sebastian Vettel overtook Bottas in turn 1, but in turn 2 Bottas hit the back of Vettel's Ferrari,. He was able to go on and lost his position to Vettel and Raikkonen.
Later on Bottas also collided with the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo and also lost that place. Ricciardo who started from P12 had a great race pace, passed a lot of cars to finish on P4.

Website looking great. One comment. I keep track myself of all F1 results in the last 5 or 6 years (although a follower of F1 since the 1960s). For my interest I include ALL drivers in the results including those that did not finish and why. It keeps a complete record and stops anyone thinking why a driver was not in the race especially looking at past races.
Otherwise, well done.
Hi John, thank you for your message, but I don't fully understand the difference between your method and ours? Could you explain it more? As far as I know we also include all drivers that didn't finish the race and show why they retired.
