At the end of the 4th day of testing, Nico Hulkenberg was able to set the quickest lap time in his Renault RS19.
The "Hulk" even clocked the quickest lap time in this first week of 2019 testing.
Both Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas were also speeding up their lap times and drove for the first time lap times below the 1:18's.
This morning Lewis Hamilton had an exciting moment on a hot lap. He was approaching the Williams of Robert Kubica who was doing an installation lap.
Just before turn 14 they almost collided. As Hamilton was driving much quicker than the Polish driver, Hamilton expected that Kubica would move over, but he didn't.
At the last moment Hamilton was able avoid the Williams and used the escape road to finish his lap. See the Hamilton Kubica incident.
McLaren driver Lando Norris caused a red flag when he had a strange wobble moment in turn 5 and ended up in the gravel. You can see a video about this here.
Next week the last 4 days of testing will start on Tuesday (9 AM local time) and end on Friday.
Here you can watch all highlights of the final day of the first week.
A few spins, some big surprises, and one VERY popular return!
