This time Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll was the first to enter the track during this second practice for the 2023 Saudi Arabian Formula One Grand Prix. Almost all other drivers went out right behind him.

FP2 is quite important, because the time of day of the FP2 is similar to tomorrow's qualifying session. In the first part the cars were fitted with Medium and Hard tyres. After five minutes Carlos Sainz clocked the quickest time with a 1:31.080 min on a set of Medium tyres underneath his Ferrari.

Max Verstappen's Red Bull RB19 was sparking a lot due to it was running very low to the ground, which is a spectacular sight in the dark conditions. He did record the quickest lap, was slower than Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin. A few minutes later Pérez also beat his team mate to P1, but Verstappen was still warming up and showed he could go 0.4 s faster than his team mate by clocking a 1:30.058 min, which was the quickest lap time uptil then.

After 15 minutes the order was 1. VER, 2. PER, 4. ALO, 4. GAS 5. OCO, 6. ALB, 7. LEC, 8. STR, 9. HAM, 10. SAI. Alpine seemed to got up to speed in Jeddah being 4th and 5th quickest. All top 10 drivers used the Medium tyre compound of Pirelli.

After 20 minutes into the session the Soft tyres were up. Alonso made a mistake at turn 22 and ended up second on +0.083s behind Verstappen.

Half way the session the most times were set on the Soft tyres. Verstappen was quickest with a 1:29.603. 2nd Perez on +0.299. Alonso was 3rd, Haas driver Hulkenberg was 4th on +0.578, 5th was Gasly on +0.687.

Hamilton didn't seem to go any faster than 11th place on +0.996s behind Verstappen. The three rookies where  seem to have a hard time on the ultra high speed circuit. De Vries was on P17 on 1.318s, Sargeant was 18th on +1.356 while Piastri was 19th on +0.1361. Slowest was Valtteri Bottas in the Alfa Romeo,  his team mate Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu was 16th.

The quickest sector times were driven by three different drivers this session. Verstappen was quickest in sector 1 with a 32.619, Alonso was quickest in sector 2 with a 28.317 and Pérez was fastest in the third sector with a 38.510.

Last year'ss quickest lap in FP2 was a 1:30,074 min driven by Charles Leclerc with the Ferrari F1-75.
