"Our latest Formula 1 2019 feature on Scuderia Ferrari. Ferrari left Canada distraught; that potential, much-needed race win gone with a single error by 4-time F1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel. The German’s undoing - an off-track excursion at Turn 4 on Lap 48, his rejoining of the racing line judged unsafe by the stewards - in forcing rival Mercedes Lewis Hamilton to avoid a collision. The result, a 5-second time penalty Sebastian Vettel couldn’t hope to overcome. His lights-to-flag lead meaningless in a matter of seconds. Vettel rearranging the place numbers in parc-ferme to make a point. Watch the video, and tell us what you think in the comments…

That's disrespectful to f1 sport entirely the rules are there to be implemented he needed to be sanction for that action also he should thank his luck that the stewards are lenient to Ferrari

Bull dust! The whole of the F1 Stewarts ought to be sacked, the rule book thrown out and rewritten to allow drivers to race and take risks. This is racing, not Sunday driving. No wonder the F1 audience is dropping by the day.

The rule is in place for the protection of the drivers. Seb clearly made a driver error going too fast and momentarily lost control. The Stewards made a decision sadly not in Sebs' favour. The Stewards have to make decisions that they are not always popular for. Take it like a man. Seb made the mistake, Lewis didn't.

Bull dust? I prefer saying cow dung.

Stewards won't get sacked, but the things are changing the way you suggested - ominously! Hamilton caused an almost identical replay of the Canada incident during the P2 today - and got no penalty.

You could say stewards have learned their lesson and are easing off on their heavy handedness. But, you could also say - if you don't I will - the stewards continue to be openly biased in Hamilton's favour.

Could Seb have backed off the power and rejoined the track on the left, instead os skidding to the right and obstructing Lewis? I don’t know the answer, but if yes, then the penalty is appropriate, if no, it’s a racing incident.

I don’t accept that Lewis is treated more favourably than others. There have been many times in his career when he’s been on the wrong side of a decision. The stewards have to be seen to be impartial and rational.
