CE - Control Electronics

The Control Electronics (CE) in Formula 1 is a single standardised electronic module that teams are required to use in their cars for managing and controlling various aspects of the car's power unit. The CE includes the Engine Control Unit (ECU), the Energy Store, and the Control Electronics Module.

The CE was introduced to Formula 1 in 2014 as part of a major overhaul of the sport's regulations. The aim was to increase the efficiency of the cars, promote sustainable technology, and reduce costs by standardising certain components. The CE was also introduced to help regulate the use of electrical power units and prevent teams from using more than the allowed amount of electrical power.

The CE is managed and regulated by the FIA, who monitor and approve any changes made to the module by the manufacturer. Teams are required to use the same CE module throughout the season and any tampering with the module can result in penalties and sanctions.
